Fall Classic Game 7 Captures Over 50 Million Audience Members Across the United States, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The thrilling extended contest where the Dodgers overcome the Blue Jays by one run attracted a total 51M viewers across the US, Canadian, and Japanese territories. Major League Baseball reported this marks the most-watched Fall Classic Game 7 after the 1991 edition contest featuring the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

The Saturday memorable game averaged over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports channels, Fox Deportes and Fox’s digital services. Per ratings data, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated World Series game since the 2017 Game 7 between the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged 29.07 million. This represents a sixteen percent increase over the previous finale between the Washington Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19 million viewers.

In the Nielsen ratings, the sixth game ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, the fifth game came in eighth, and Game 3 landed in 13th position.

International Viewership Numbers

In Canada, the climactic game drew over 11 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports channel. This was the most-watched English-language program in the country after the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding game began at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million. This followed last Friday’s sixth game – where Fall Classic MVP Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up a single run in six innings – recorded 13.1 million viewers, making it the most-watched Fall Classic matchup on a sole broadcaster in Japan.

Series Totals and Patterns

The full seven-match World Series recorded 15.71 million viewers on Fox, a two percent increase from the previous year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two straight years.

Including the Game 1 telecast on the Univision network, the complete American viewership reached over 16 million. The overall Fall Classic viewership in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in Canada.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 drew 8.09M viewers, an 8% rise compared to last year and Fox’s strongest postseason performance since the 2017 season.

MLB announced that the Fall Classic was broadcast in over 200 countries and territories by forty-four media partners in sixteen various tongues.
